My personal thoughts on these specific socio-economic statements

Post by Soviet on 21st January 2012, 5:09 pm

Comrades! As the Grand Commissioner of Phorumphorpl, and each commission, I feel like I should let everybody know what my various political opinions are! So, on top of this thread -- where I will discuss my thoughts on some of the statements found if you do the Political Compass test, I have also set up a Question Inbox, where members of the General Assembly, and other commissions can ask me questions about my ideology and belief system in order to better understand the mind of the man who is leading them and organizing their sanctuary.

Please, don't hesitate to ask me anything, I will be as truthfully as possible.

The World

I'd always support my country, whether it was right or wrong.

DISAGREE

I am no Nationalist. I am not a Patriot. I did not choose to be born in this country we call Canada. It is a country of very diverse culture and background. If my country was supporting an issue with the interests of Socialism, then I would support it with question. If my country was supporting an issue with the interests of Capitalism, then I would oppose it without question. Everybody was born in Mesopotamia.

My race has many superior qualities, compared with other races.

DISAGREE

I disagree, and it's a disgusting view of race. We are all equally human, we have the same feelings, the same abilities, and the same genetic origins.

Military action that defies international law is sometimes justified.

DISAGREE

Military aggression is never justified. War, and military conflicts are nothing more than opportunities for everyone to reap the benefits of war profiteering -- be it for land, oil, lithium, water or human beings.

The Economy

Land shouldn't be a commodity to be bought and sold.

AGREE

As a Marxist-Leninist, of Castro and Guevara ideology, I am against the system of Latifundia; Feudalism, Capitalism. Essentially, buying and selling land and property is buying and selling the right to privacy, life, rest and the opportunity to raise a family.

The freer the market, the freer the people.

AGREE

Imagine a world where you didn't buy what you needed, and sold what you didn't need, in a never-ending cycle of consumerism and taxation, but where you simply owned what you did need, and recycled what you didn't. Globalisation, and anti-protectionism must be applied to our trade systems. Essentially, I do support Free Market.

Social Values

Abortion, when the woman's life is not threatened, should always be illegal.

DISAGREE

I am not a woman, so I could never hope to understand the female perspective of birth, abortion and reproducing, and what it means to be a mother. I do know that 75% of anti-abortion advocating leaders are men, and 100% of them will never be pregnant. The other 25% are probably religious women. So far, I have adopted a Pro-Choice opinion, but I have yet to expand upon this position.

All authority should be questioned.

AMBIGUOUS OPINION

No authority should ever actually need to be questioned, the people should trust their government completely, that they will put their interests above materialist pursuits.

Society Itself

The prime function of schooling should be to equip the future generation to find jobs.

AGREE

Employment preparation, teaching our youth the skills and knowledge of the socio-economic system to which they are emerging into is the most important aspect and prime function of a socialist school system. Instructors should also teach unbiased subjects and 100% factual accuracy so that the youth may form their own opinions. Instructors should be more focused on their students learning to accept criticism and hold an open-mind towards interpretations by instructing unbiased knowledge -- and not teaching them obedience towards a biased, corrupted authority, with the hope that they will accept the competitive, elitist workplace and not question it.

In criminal justice, punishment should be more important than rehabilitation.

DISAGREE

We must learn to understand why crimes are committed, and that the majority of the time, they are reactionary and created by social conditions and not judgments or moral values. We must learn to use crime rates as a method to correct the social issues and instill these moral values by creating community centres, equality and help groups, and social welfare programs. We must learn to understand why capital punishment, and physical punishment is not an effective or cost-effective way to deal with the convicted, and that corporal punishment and rehabilitation is.

Sex

What goes on in a private bedroom between consenting adults is no business of the state.

AGREE

It is of no business to anybody, except the consenting participants within the bedroom. A male and a female, a female and a female, and a male and a male should all have the same rights in public and in the privacy of their homes.

I dunno... Free market sounds like corporation-enabling to me, man.

On the other hand: What America does is protecting corporations, but, America's economics is paradoxical.

It's hard to explain a free market. Governments cannot tax corporations, but let's say globalization has occurred, and socialist systems adopted -- the opportunity to profit from abusing the system would not ideally exist, because socialist "corporations" based on emulation are already implemented in almost every country.

Fair enough, I just don't want people building privatized empires.

America is weird that way. They make legal loopholes allowing giant corporations to sue smaller ones out of existence in the free market. Which means government-propped monopolizations within the so-called capitalist free market.

Which means... Capitalist-Socialism.

Weird, amirite?
